How to Place an Order

New to ordering online? Don't worry. Although it takes a lot of actual words to explain, it's easier than you think.

Select a Category or Search for a Product
You should see a list of categories on the left side and top of your screen. These are the different types of items we sell online. Select the one that most appeals to you, such as "Bee House Teapots." If a category has subcategories, these will appear as you mouse over the category and you can select one of those.

Or you can search for an item by using our Search Button. In the upper left corner is a field where you can type the name of what you want, then click the Search button to the right of the field. Any products that match your search will be displayed on a new page. Click on the underlined code of any that you're interested in to view that product.

Pick a Product
Now you will see the products begin to appear on your screen. Each "page" will display several products. Products are listed alphabetically. Scroll down through the products and hit the "next" button at the bottom to go to the next page (or the "previous" button to go to the previous page). Do not use your browser's "Back" button while you are in the shopping cart. It may mess up your order!

Check the Details
To view more information about the products, click on its photo, its underlined name, or the "Go To Product" button, and a detail page will appear with a description, prices, and a larger photo.

Put it in Your Basket
If you want to purchase the product, enter how many you want in the "Quantity" box. (For loose tea, the number you enter will be the number of ounces of tea you want.) Click "Add to Basket" to put this in your "shopping basket" and continue shopping.

Loose teas are priced by the ounce, with discounts depending on how many ounces you order. Each tea has a chart that tells you the price per ounce for various quantities. Enter the number of ounces you want in the "Quantity" box. Click "Add to Basket" to put this in your "shopping basket" and continue shopping.

Monitor Your Spending
As you put things in your shopping basket, you can see how much you're spending by looking at the "mini-basket" in the upper right corner of the screen. There is a little box there that says "Basket Contents" that keeps track of your items. You can edit what's in your basket any time by clicking on the "Basket Contents" link or the "View/Edit My Basket" at the top of the page. From there, you can change quantities by entering a new number in the "Quantity" field and clicking "Update," or you can delete items quickly by clicking the "Remove" button on the left of each item. Your total is adjusted each time you make a change. To resume shopping, you can click on any category name or search for a product.

(If you find yourself at the checkout but decide you still want to shop, at any time click on any category name or search for a product. Your basket will wait for you while you shop.)

When you are done shopping, click on "Checkout" at the upper left of the screen or on your mini basket. This will take you to the Log-In screen. If you have an account, enter your Login ID and password and click "Login." (If you have forgotten your password, click on "Please Email Me My Password," and an automatically generated email will be sent to you right away.) If you are a new customer, click on "Create New Account" and fill in the required information. Creating an account allows you to provide your ship-to and bill-to information only once, and it is stored in the system. It will also allow you to log into your account to check the status of your order and track your package. If you check the "Log me in automatically" box, the web site will remember your log-in ID and password and next time you will not have to log yourself in. (You also have the option of placing an order without an account.)

If you need to edit your order while you're checking out, click on "View/Edit My Basket" in the upper left portion of the screen. You can remove items by checking the box to the left of the item, and you can change the quantity of any item by putting a new quantity in the box on the right side of the screen. Click on "Update" when you are done making changes, then "Checkout" or "Enter the Shop."

Your default ship-to and your billing address will appear at the bottom of your order. Check over this information and check for any errors. Click on "Continue" at bottom right.

On this page you enter any coupon or gift certificate codes you may have. Codes must be exact, so it is best to copy and paste them into the required space. On this page you will also choose your shipping options, and your method of payment. Click on "Continue."

Credit Card Processing: We use VeriSign's (now owned by Pay Pal) online credit card processing. For more details about payment options, see our Payment FAQs.

  • Please make sure your billing address matches what your card-issuing bank has on file for you. If it does not, we will contact you via phone or email for the correct information. This information is used to verify your identity since you are not here to sign for your purchase.

  • Reasons you might be declined:
    • You do not have enough funds available
    • There is an error in the credit card number, expiration date, or security code.
    • What to do if you are declined: If your credit card number is correct, then you may not have enough funds available to pay for the order, and no authorizations were put on your card. Try using another credit card.

    Tea Samples
    You can request up to three tea samples with any order. Simply click on the "Add Sample to Basket" button for that product. These buttons are on product detail pages. If there is a charge for the sample, it will be listed there.

    Check Order Status and Re-Order
    If you want to check your order status, view past orders, track your package, or re-order using a previous order as a guide, log into your account and click on "Order Status" in the left side menu. A list of your orders will appear with a notation of whether the order is completed, back ordered, or pending, with any tracking numbers. Click on the tracking number to track your package. Click on "Details/Re-Order" to see the items you ordered. To re-order those items, just check the "Re-Order" box, enter the quantity you want, and click the "Add to Basket" button at the bottom of the screen. From there you can either check out, or continue shopping.

    That's it! You're order has been sent to us. You can print out the next page for your records. Please note your order number at the top. You will also get an automatically generated email receipt for your order almost immediately.
